My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Easy-going family man

Hector is a big ol' sweetie who is excellent with kids and knows commands like sit and stay. That's because he was a loved family member until their unfortunate eviction.

But Hector's not letting this get him down. He likes to run around the yard for a quick minute, then is right back next to his humans, ready for pets and belly rubs! Two walks a day would be plenty for this guy.

Hector is food motivated and can learn most anything you'd like to teach him. He would do well in a home as an only pet, as he didn't socialize much with other pets in his previous home. But Hector promises he's not a demanding diva. He's a low-key dude who longs for love and companionship.

Weight: 75 lbs

Temperament: Gets along with all adults, kids and some dogs

Training: House and crate-trained, knows some commands.

Vetting: Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention.

To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.

Submit Application

We are 100% volunteer/foster based, so we do ask that you complete an adoption application in order for us to schedule a phone interview.

2.
Interview

After reviewing your application, we'll contact you to determine if dog is a good fit for your lifestyle and home.

3.
Approve Application

We check vet and personal references to ensure previous dogs were well cared for, so please be thorough in providing this info.

4.
Home Check

This enables the dog to get to know you and your home and for us to suggest anything they may need to be successful in your home.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

You would also pay the fee at this time, however, we offer a 2 week trial period before cashing your check. We will always take dogs back.

You will be asked to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/dh-adoption) and allow a home visit to ensure the pet is a good fit for your home/lifestyle.

We are primarily a placement service, so the adoption fees vary depending on each pet and what caretakers have invested medically and behaviorally to ensure they are adoption-ready.

We do not have a shelter, so please understand that we are only able to support animals with foster homes or donations toward short-term boarding.

More about this rescue

Doggie Harmony is a metro-Atlanta dog rescue group focused on finding the right homes for dogs in foster care or belonging to owners who wish to re-home them. Our core objective is to place these dogs before they are turned over to animal control facilities, where they may be euthanized. Lastly, Doggie Harmony supports spay/neuter, wellness, and training to help keep or place dogs. This includes helping people find low cost resources and/or lending financial support where there's a qualified need.
