My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Solana is one of seven hamsters who were on the transport from San Diego Humane Society to the Humane Society here in Tucson. Please Google the news reports if you have questions. The story is very complicated and her background matches that complication. Not much is known about her prior to being on the transport, and since her admission into Home Sweet Hammy Home she has been learning how to be a hamster who lives in an appropriate setup with lots of food, foraging, activities to do, and love. She will need a patient adopter to continue working with her and helping her realize she's safe and life is good.

Solana's name means light, all of the animals from the transport were given names meaning the same to offset the dark situation they came from.

If interested in adopting Solana, email homesweethammyhome@gmail.com and to see videos about her rescue admission visit our social media pages.

More about this rescue

There was a need in our community for a small animal rescue as well as care education for these amazing, often overlooked pets, so Home Sweet Hammy Home was established. Our goal is to teach updated care to anyone interested, take in as many as we have room and supplies for and create suitable habitats that our rescues can thrive in. We will then make these available to adopters if they don't have a proper one of their own.
