My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Twilight needs to go to a home with one or more female or neutered male guinea pigs for her to bond with. Her current bonded sister has developed an internal issue that is untreatable and isn't expected to live much longer. Twilight is sticking close to her in these final days like the loyal piggy she is. Once the dreaded ending has come for her sister, another female guinea pig will be admitted into the rescue and bonded with Twilight if no one has adopted her by that point but for now we are hoping for a perfect match with a caring family who is willing to go the extra mile in ensuring Twilight gets acclimated into their home appropriately.

It is difficult to guess how Twilight will be temperament wise once she's lost her sister. She has a feisty personality now but balances it out well with her gratefulness over being given unlimited necessities such as hay, soft fleece and hide houses. She wheeks loudly when its veggie time and begs for small pet select treats when anyone enters her space. She can be difficult to pick up but once held will sit quietly for her health check and nail trim most of the time, with the occasional utterance of protest that vibrates all around the room once in a while.

Overall, our hope is to secure an excellent home for Twilight and transition her into that home after her sister passes.

More about this rescue

There was a need in our community for a small animal rescue as well as care education for these amazing, often overlooked pets, so Home Sweet Hammy Home was established. Our goal is to teach updated care to anyone interested, take in as many as we have room and supplies for and create suitable habitats that our rescues can thrive in. We will then make these available to adopters if they don't have a proper one of their own.
