My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tomas, a charming 7-8-year-old Beagle Dachshund mix who captures the hearts of all those he meets. His endearing personality is a perfect blend of sweetness, delightful curiosity, and resilience, making him an irresistible addition to any loving home.

Tomas, with his heart as big as his ears, approaches life with enthusiasm despite facing a few health challenges. A daily regimen of medications manages his heart condition, and an easily handled perineal hernia is kept in check with inexpensive fiber supplements added to his meals. Despite these minor obstacles, Tomas radiates resilience and a zest for life that captivates everyone who crosses his path.

A true sweetheart, Tomas has a gentle demeanor that endears him to people of all ages. He is a social butterfly, effortlessly making new friends among both humans and furry companions alike. His delightful spirit, reminiscent of a puppy, manifests in his happy non stop tail wags and exciting adventures with his canine pals.

Tomas is not just a delightful pal, he is also a dedicated cuddler. With a penchant for burrowing in the covers, he creates a snug and comforting space for his bedtime routine. His curious and intelligent nature shines through as he eagerly learns new routines, always ready for a mental challenge.

The ideal home for Tomas is one where he can share his days with a canine companion, as he thrives in the company of other dogs. An active lifestyle suits him well, and he eagerly embraces trips to the dog park and long walks around the neighborhood. Tomas is on the lookout for a family that will provide him with the love, attention, and care he deserves for the rest of his happy years.

With leash skills that can only be described as pro-level, Tomas is the perfect walking buddy, whether it's a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood or time at the off leash dog park.

If you're ready to welcome a lovable, sociable, intelligent, and resilient canine companion into your life, Tomas is the one for you. His story is waiting to unfold with a forever family that will share a lifetime of love, laughter, cuddles, and companionship. LL can set up a meet-and-greet so you can discover the joy that Tomas, the Beagle Dachshund mix, can bring to your home. He can't wait to embark on a new chapter and find his forever family who will appreciate the unique charm he brings to their lives.

More about this rescue

Lionel's Legacy is a San Diego based senior dog rescue and elementary humane education program. We provide a last chance for senior dogs entering the shelter systems in both San Diego and Los Angeles. We solely rely on fosters to care for our seniors temporarily while looking for their furever home or as permanent hospice fosters when the need arises.

We also believe in early education as a means of preventing pet overpopulation. As a second grade teacher at Central elementary in San Diego, I see first hand the difference educating our brilliant young minds can make.

Lionel's Legacy- Saving ONE senior dog at a time and educating MANY young minds to leave a legacy of compassion and advocacy!
