My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio:  Hi!  My name is Delgado!  I walk very nicely on the leash and I also have learned a lot about being a member of a pack of GSDs, since joining as a foster dog!  I like other GSDs, however smaller animals such as squirrels I find are quite a bunch of fun to chase!  I have a good appetite, meal on time is very important to me!  I love play time and when you give me pets, I also will lean into you and hug my human back!  I really want to know what's going on around the house, so it's best that I can be near you.  At night I'll sleep well in my crate...  as long as I can sleep in your room, then I know I'm not missing out on anything!  I love car or truck rides, I could be an only GSD or have a sister woofer would be great too!  I am very high energy, so if you like to go for daily walks or play times in the back yard, I'm all about that!  I will bark if someone gets close to the fence - they just need to know that I watch out for my yard and home.  I want to be the best GSD I can be, just need my humans to keep me part of their day's plans!  Woof!!

Go meet their pets

GHGSDR holds Meet and Greets @ several Petco stores in the Houston area each month, usually from 1pm to 4pm. Check our homepage for locations and dates.

On our homepage we list the names of the dogs that are expected to be at the event - check 1 or 2 days before the event.

We hope that you will come on out and meet some of our wonderful GSDs. Meet our volunteers and learn more about why GSDs are a wonderful breed!
See you there!

More about this rescue

GHGSDR volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

GHGSDR Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
