My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read entire description. Nala's adoption fee is $250. If interested, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.

Meet Nala! She is a 2.5 year old Cane Corso. She was saved from a bad situation by a kind family who had every intention of making things work in their household. In her previous life, after a litter of puppies, poor Nala was found to be heartworm positive. She finished treatment for this in November and is now heartworm free.

Nala has been found to be the biggest, loungey, lazy cuddling, sweetheart. She has a calm energy and does great with the young kids in the home. Unfortunately, one of the original dogs in the home is very protective of the family and has not welcomed Nala. This has caused some concerning quarrels and they feel it best to find her a home without other dogs. (No cats for this girl, either.) She will tend to fight back if provoked, but doesn't start it. Nala enjoys playing tug and fetch with the kids; she is always up for running zoomies around the yard. She is very aware of her size and gentle about it. This big girl will only occasionally get on her human's bed in a tiny ball. She opts to stay off the couch and prefers a pet bed on the floor. She doesn't jump on people.

Nala is house trained. She is also crate trained, but doesn't prefer it. Someone who is home more often would be ideal. They have worked with her on being less anxious in the crate and it has worked. In typical Cane Corso fashion, she is leery of new people, but warms up quickly when she knows her people are ok. We were quick friends meeting for pictures.

Nala is scheduled for her spay in April to give her body time to heal from the heartworm treatment. She is up to date on vaccines, on preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250 and will include the cost of spay at our vet in April. If interested in meeting this big, beautiful girl, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. One application works for all of our dogs.

Additional adoption info

The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application on our website. Once we have reviewed the applications, we will contact the potential adopters to arrange a meet and greet. This can take several days depending on the popularity of the animal.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue/ rhoming service that provides education and assistance for owners in our community to keep pets in their home. When that is not an option or we come across animals in need, we will take them into our foster-based program, work with them, seek all necessary vetting, and find them the perfect home.
