My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Droopy!
The wise 6-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as his paws! Weighing in at a majestic 94 pounds, Droopy is the perfect blend of gentle giant and affectionate companion.
Droopy may be a bit timid at first, but once he warms up, his friendly nature shines through, revealing a loving and loyal friend. His calm demeanor makes him an ideal match for those seeking a steady and devoted canine companion.

While Droopy likes most dogs, his initial reserve may take a bit of time to warm up. With the right match and a patient introduction, Droopy is sure to forge lasting friendships with his furry companions.
Due to Droopy's sensitivity with handling, he would do best in a home with older children if there are any, aged 13 years and older. This ensures a harmonious environment where Droopy can feel comfortable and loved.

Ready to welcome Droopy's gentle presence into your home? Call 330-487-0333 ext 226 to schedule an appointment and let the calming spirit of Droopy bring joy to your household. Your forever friend is just a call away! #AdoptDroopy #GentleMastiffMix

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
