Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🏃♀️ Dahlia: Built for Speed, Cuddles, and Second Chances 💛
Got experience with high-energy dogs? Great. Got a good pair of running shoes? Even better. Because Dahlia is ready to zoom her way into your heart—and your backyard.
Dahlia is a stunning Malinois mix (50 lbs of lean, leggy athleticism) with one very goofy ear and a heart full of potential. She's around 2–4 years old and definitely not ready for retirement. Think Olympic decathlete energy meets “Netflix and snuggle” vibes—once she feels safe. Right now, she needs someone who can help her grow into the amazing companion she was born to be.
💥 Quick Dahlia Facts:
House hippo in training
Fearful of men, but loyal once she bonds
Sweet, sensitive, and treat-motivated
Loves women, structure, and long walks in the yard
Would thrive with professional training and purpose
Not a fit for homes with other pets or kids
Best suited to a calm, one-person household
Needs a secure fenced-in yard and consistent routine
She’s had a tough start—left behind when her previous people moved away. But Dahlia’s not looking back. She’s looking for her person: someone patient, kind, and committed. Someone who gets that high-drive dogs need more than love—they need guidance, outlets for their energy, and someone who won’t give up when things get hard.
⚠️ Shelter life is really taking a toll on her. The stress is stacking up, and she urgently needs out. If you're a seasoned dog owner ready to give this sweet, misunderstood girl a second chance, Dahlia is ready to learn, love, and live her best life by your side.
She’s spayed, vaccinated, and packed (mentally) for her new life. Could you be the calm in her storm?

More about this rescue
The mission of Castoff Pet Rescue is to save and nurture homeless dogs; to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes; to foster responsible pet care; to control overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter programs; and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals. We believe that the same kindness, compassion, and generosity we extend to our two-legged neighbors should be given to our four-legged friends because they are not able to speak for themselves.
