My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

SHERBET came to us as she was abandoned at a dog groomers/kennel. We do know she was in a home with a few other dogs though. She’s spayed, had her vaccines including rabies, is microchipped and deemed a healthy girl by her vet. This lovely quiet girl with the exquisite blue eyes is very loving and rarely barks at anything.
SHERBET was quite underweight and very timid when she first went to her foster home but she’s come such a long way since that time. She’s put on weight and she’ll now give tail wags to get snuggles and belly rubs. She’s a very friendly girl albeit a bit timid of meeting new people and is slightly cautious with men. She’s definitely turning into a people dog though and is getting more comfortable when meeting strangers and even tail wags are happening with them now.
SHERBET is housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She’s also crate trained and will sleep quietly in her crate all night. She loves going on walks and is good on her leash and rarely pulls. She loves going in a vehicle especially if it leads to an adventure or lovely walk for her. She’s looking for a home with a family who will take her on the nice long walks she loves as well as going on the hiking trails for walks in the woods. She would also love it if someone was home most of the day as she’s with a foster who works from home and she loves to snuggle up in her dog bed beside her. She was great with all the dogs she met at the kennel but she did recently meet a dog and they just didn’t like each other for some reason. We always have our dogs meet with a dog that will end up being her sibling as we can then all assess if they’re a good match for each other.
SHERBET requires a fenced yard to keep her safe and to allow her to run around and play with her outdoor toys. She’s never met a cat and she would suit older children of 10 plus as she’s not been exposed to any younger since being in foster care. She can do “sit” “stay” and “paw” she also takes treats “gentle.”
She would definitely benefit from obedience training and it’s also a good way for her to bond with her new owner.
If you would like to meet SHERBET then please put in an adoption application yo meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
