My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BETTY!

This special little muffin is named Betty! Betty is around 10 years old and joined the rescue after her former family moved and left her outdoors to fend for herself for 8 long months before a community cat trapper stumbled upon her and brought her to safety. City of Elderly Love then took over to ensure she got the appropriate veterinary care.

Betty didn't have an easy go of it while trying to survive on the streets of Philadelphia. She had to fend for herself, got sick with Calicivirus and ear infections, and was attacked by a dog at some point. Despite all of this, Betty has proven to be very resilient and the happiest little lady who drools in delight and kneads her paws while she's being petted. It took some time for Betty to recover from her stint on the streets but neither she nor her foster family gave up. As a result of being injured and sick, Betty has narrowing of her airways which causes her to breathe a little harsher at times, but her doctors don't believe is impacting her quality of life. Her 3rd eyelids (the white part) are damaged and limit her vision a bit which doesn't affect her ability to navigate her surroundings. She also had a fractured arm which healed incorrectly but again, doesn't stop her from getting around! She does prefer a low-sided litter box which is easier to get in and out of and may not always feel like running up/down the stairs. This tenacious girl is MORE than deserving of a family who will cherish her for the gem that she is.

Betty is currently in foster care with other cats and has adjusted well to living with them! We think she'd do great in a home with other cats with an appropriate introduction and in a home with children. Because of being attacked by a dog in the past, we think she'd be happiest in a home without them. She has received a full veterinary workup including bloodwork, x-rays, a CT scan and and endoscopy - needless to say, she's had the works! She'll soon receive a dental cleaning to round it all out. Consider giving Betty her dream home!

Betty is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also FIV/FeLV negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
