My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Perry MinPin is made of sugar and spice and everything nice! He is just over a year old and just over 11 pounds. Perry loves to play with other small dogs after an appropriate introduction, but is also quite good at entertaining himself. He is very athletic; he can jump in the back of the car without a running start and with easily a foot clearance. His foster mom has seen him toss a forward pass and catch it himself before it hits the ground. Perry likes to grumble when disturbed when he is comfortable, and can even make quite scary faces, but it is all in fun and he has perfect bite inhibition.

Perry is housetrained and knows how to use a dog door. He has learned to walk on leash, but is not comfortable yet meeting new dogs or people while out. He can walk along with a person and another dog after an introduction. He is not an off-leash dog at this time and prefers to walk where other dogs are also on leash. He probably was an only dog before coming to foster care, but is doing great with his canine foster siblings and loves to play with them, so a playful dog in his forever home would be great. Children in his home should be teenagers.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Perry is $300.

If you are interested in adopting Perry, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/
. One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.

Additional adoption info

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

More about this rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes!  You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
