My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BABY!

Baby, a 7 year old terrific terrier is ready to meet her new best friend! Baby joined the rescue because her former owner (and best friend) was experiencing housing insecurity. She was clearly loved and doted on by her family and was lucky enough to find a soft landing in foster care. She's now ready to find the perfect retirement home!

Baby is around 7 years old with a quirky personality to match her quirky looks. She definitely has "middle aged dog energy" and is the perfect mix between fun and chill. Baby has a wiry coat, epic eyebrows and a curly tail that always lets you know how she's feeling. She loves to sleep under the covers curled against your legs, and wakes up with you with immediate hugs and cuddles. She relaxes quietly during the day while her foster parent works from home (although would prefer to nap in your lap if you let her), and is a delightful addition to video meetings! Baby enjoys a few quick walks a day to get the wiggles out, and like any true terrier, loves to play with toys fiercely. She will guard her toys and other high value items by grumbling to let you know she doesn't want to share, but Baby does respond well to verbal correction and trading for other items. Because of this and because she's a vocal dog while playing, we don't recommend Baby live with small children. She is currently living with older kids and a larger dog in foster care and learning to play and share space with them well. Her former family reports that she has lived with cats in her past but we have not seen her around them. She currently splits her time in foster care between South Philly and the Jersey Shore and is comfortable in the car, city, and suburbs!

Baby has received a full vet veterinary workup since coming to the rescue. She was treated for a skin infection due to a flea allergy. She still has some dry patches but her skin is healing well and will continue to look better and better on appropriate monthly flea preventatives and a healthy diet. She was also positive for lymes disease but had no symptoms. She was treated with 30 days of antibiotics.

Baby is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is vaccinated and microchipped and will be spayed prior to going to her adoptive home. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
