My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org***

This big handsome snowball is Sheldon.  Quite frankly we all love him and would be happy for him to stay with us forever but if you think you would be the perfect match for this stud muffin he's looking for a home that has lots of chillin out sittin on laps time, no dogs or at least no energetic ones.  Maybe a home with a senior dog that sleeps on a dog bed most of the time and minds his own business but certainly no one that's gonna be all crazy and buggin him all the time.  He would be ok with a chill female cat but he likes to throw his weight around a bit with other males.  His BFF at the shelter is little Irma and the pair can be found cuddling and grooming each other so maybe a young lady that needs an squishy, older male friend to hang out with.  Sheldon rescued himself during a polar vortex by running into a home with 5 dogs and just refusing to leave.  It wasn't safe for him to stay there so when the weather got better the family brought Sheldon to us.  You can see in his rounded ears and weathered face that it obviously wasn't his first winter out of doors.  Sheldon is quite the character but mostly he's just a lover....oh and he sheds like crazy which is just his way of reminding you as you go about your day that he loves you always.  This senior guy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped. As always our adoption fee for cats/kittens is free will to approved applicants.

Go meet their pets

Check out all of our pets online at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org or send in an application to meet a specific pet! Once our shelter is open for operation stop in during our open hours to visit with a fuzzy friend in person.

More about this shelter

The ECAS is an all volunteer, no kill shelter. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome pets in need due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or from simply not being wanted! We started in 2010 due to a need in our community. We are currently a foster based organization and we are currently building our new shelter facility. We work hand in hand with other rescue and shelters in the area to help out when and where we are needed.
