The shelter labeled Jake as a Gaint Schnauzer, but we don't see it! He looks like a scruffy little terrier, but he's 60 pounds! We have no idea what his breed mix is, we just know he's an all-around Good Boy who loves to go on walks and adventures, loves to toss around balls and sticks, loves attention and engagement. He's playful and bubbly and always has a smile on his face! Jake is good with kids and other dogs, but has not been cat-tested.
This young guy has a beautiful, gentle temperament. He's kind and loving, and very easy to get along with! He doesn't like drama or shenanigans, and just wants everyone to be happy! And it's hard not to be, when you're in the company of someone who's always smiling, always cheerful, always grateful for everything he gets. Jake is in a foster home in Houston, looking for his family and waiting for his best life to start. He's just reached his full size of around 65 pounds, so we think he's just barely around a year old, even though the shelter guessed he's already 2. He LOVES to run and play, and needs a family with kids and/or another playful, friendly, fun dog to romp around with.
So far we haven't come across any bad behaviours or triggers of past trauma...he's simply a well-balanced, good natured young guy, just waiting, waiting, waiting.

Submit Application
People can submit an adoption application
Interview
First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant
Home Check
Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up
Meet the Pet
If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match
Approve Application
we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)
Sign Adoption Contract
We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.
Pay Fee
They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.
