My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moscow recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say!

"Meet Moscow!

He is a happy boy who is 4 years old, 53lb, Pit Bull mix.

I had the pleasure of taking this sweet boy on a DDO - the volunteers refer to him as a "walking chill pill and nothing describes him better!!

He does great in cars, jumps right in and lays down for the ride - he occasionally pops up to see what's going on outside the car and then back down he goes.

We took a morning walk on some trails: he walks great on leash, doesn't pull but does prefer to lead the way rather than walking side by side. Seeing squirrels gets this boy super excited, he does a little lunge towards them but nothing crazy. He was living his best life later in the day on my porch doing some squirrel and bird watching.

He loves people and wants all the pets, he does a little happy snort when he sees a human approaching and patiently waits to see if they will give him some love.

Treats are yummy to him but he could take or leave them, he seems to prefer pets as his rewards.

Giving him love is the cutest thing ever - he relaxes and buries his nose in you when you're giving him lots of pets. He also enjoys holding your hand and just chilling there.

This sweet boy is ready for his forever home. He will be patiently waiting at the Guilford County Animal Shelter."

2nd DDO:
"Moscow is a four-year-old, 53 lb. Pittie Mix who was "Russian to go on a Dog's Day Out today (okay, that's a terrible pun and I apologize!). All kidding aside, we had a great day taking him along on several activities:
- Excellent car rider - jumps in and out of the back seat enthusiastically. Sits or lies down during the ride.
- Walks easily by your side and just ahead of you on the leash. He did not react to other walkers, runners, bicyclists, lawn mowers or a street cleaner we encounter during our two-mile walk. He does react to other dogs, but we could redirect him, and we're certain that with some training he could be taught to ignore them.
- Attention runners/joggers: We think this guy would be a great running companion. He is at a good age and has good fitness and stamina. We took him on a test jog and he happily trotted alongside us at a good pace. With some practice, we think he could do longer distances.
- Moscow is well-behaved in public places. Visited a pet store to get a gourmet doggie cookie and a new toy, and he was a perfect gentleman.
- At home, he enjoyed exploring the backyard and made quick work of a peanut butter doggie fro-yo cup while we ate lunch. Although he enjoys treats, he does not seem to be overly motivated by them. He also wasn't much interested in playing ball, but that may be because he was so busy exploring his new environment.
- He LOVES pets, snuggles and especially back scratches just above his tail. With permission, he hopped up on the sofa and settled in for an afternoon nap with his head snuggled up next to us. He is a people pleaser!
Moscow is definitely ready for a permanent home where he can love on his hoomans and be near them whenever possible."

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
