Nipsey is a truly gentle soul who spent over half of his life at the shelter. Even though he was stuck in a cold kennel by himself for almost a year, he never lost his happy-go-lucky spirit, always happy to see his volunteer friends at the gate and go to the yard, where he would rub himself against their legs and chase a tennis ball with unabandoned glee. His volunteer friends advocated for him when he became red listed and was scheduled for euthanasia, and an amazing foster stepped up and let this poor boy get the decompression time that he needed - and he’s truly blossomed out of the shelter environment. He currently lives with 2 cats, and three other large dogs - all of whom he gets along with! He’s respectful of the cats space, and playing appropriately and with joy with his new dog friends. Though he was initially turned in on an alleged bite to an ankle after being tripped over while sleeping, his foster pawrent swears that “he would wear my skin before he ever bit me.” He’s been enjoying the softer side of life, snoring away on the couch when not frolicking with his foster siblings, and dreaming of his forever home!

Additional adoption info
If you find an animal that you are interested in, we do require that you fill out an adoption application. A home check will be done and we ask that all members of the family, animal and human, be present when we bring the new animal to your home. An adoption contract is then signed and a minimum donation is requested. Adoption donation is $350
Please note filling out an application does not guarantee an adoption. Please note we only adopt to Southern California. No out of state adoptions.
“The Adopt-A-Pet system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.”

More about this rescue
The Dawg Squad is working toward a time in Los Angeles when dogs are cared for, when all puppies find loving and generous owners. We rescue unwanted and abandoned dogs, provide them with medical care, rehabilitation and foster homes until caring, adoptive homes can be found. We spay and neuter prospective pets and educate owners about the importance of pet population control.
