Meet Aaliyah, a wiggly girl with a big heart! Aaliyah originally came to us as a stray in March 2024. While she was adopted at that time, unfortunately her owner became homeless and she ended up back at the shelter due to no fault of her own. Aaliyah has won over the hearts of staff and volunteers alike with her sweet cuddles and playfulness. Aaliyah should go to a home without cats, and has previously lived in a home with other dogs.
Aaliyah is now looking for her forever- she's available for adoption at ACCT Philly - meet her any day from 10am-6pm!

Behavior Notes:
Per Volunteer 12/7/25: She was at the front of her kennel when I approached, looking right up at me. I opened the door and was pretty easily able to leash around her neck and she popped right out of the kennel. On leash, she is nice without much pulling and was in tune with her handler’s leash pressure. Didn’t pay much attention to dogs that passed by our play yard. Took some pets from me and got super wiggly with her big body! She loved playing with toys and getting me to play tug with her. She kept bringing the toy up to my lap and trying to get me to grab it. She was fine with me grabbing the toy from in front of her and really likes to play tug. She is very comfortable with new handlers and allowed us to put a sweater on her for the photo shoot. Went back into kennel easily
Per Owner "She loves all people, kids and mainly all animals except cats. She’s really not an aggressive vicious dog, please make it known that it’s only towards cats. She’s good with everything and everybody else. She’s truly the sweetest. If you ask her to say “I love you” she will. May take like 5 tries tho haha.
Behavior Eval 12/1/25:
Kennel Presentation: Laying on the bed when I first approached. She came right up to the kennel door with soft eyes, ears back and loose body with a wagging tail.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash and pulled mildly through the kennels. Outside she pulled a little harder. She started to bite the leash and tug. I was able to distract her with treats tossing on the ground.
Sociability: Semi social. She remained loose and wiggly while walking. Brought her to the eval room and she walked around the room sniffing. She did allow petting but did not sit still her tail was mid wagging ears back and panting.
Play: Loved balls and she liked playing tug with a rope toy. She would have the toy in her mouth and bring it over to me while I was standing and was chewing on it on my leg. I was able to get her to drop the toys with treats.
Dog Interaction: Met Hailey through the fence. At first she was loose and wiggly sniffing, then she started to bark. Easy to move her away from the fence by just walking.
Return to Kennel: Was able to clip and she walked right into the kennel without issue.
Color Level: Blue
Recommendations and considerations:
Per Volunteer 4/6/24: Very bouncy, rambunctious puppy! She could use some practice on the leash, but settled down once she had toys to play with. LOVED playing tug of war with a rope toy, she would bring the toy over and bump it into my leg until I played with her. Very polite when you reach down to grab the toy from her. Once she settled down a bit, she enjoyed getting belly rubs and tried climbing into my lap a few times. Overall, very sweet and interested in playing and any attention from people.
Per Staff 3/25/25:
Known History/Relevant Behavior History:no cats!

Play: Engages in play, Very gentle
