My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Who is that friendly black cat?" asked a volunteer on Sunday. "She's so sweet!" said another. "That's Misty Una," we replied, beaming with pride. You see, just two weeks ago, Misty was a very different cat. She came to us not wanting to come out of her carrier, and once in her intake kennel, she hid under her bed. She cowered away when we reached our hands in to pet her. She wouldn't eat normally coveted lickable treats. She was so, so scared and just wanted to go home. But, by the next week, Misty was a different cat. She's shown her true self to be good-natured and friendly, yet quiet and gentle. She really has settled in like she's been here forever and now perches like a queen on a bed in her colony, awaiting the next visitor. She lures you in with her piercing yellow eyes and a sweet head tilt, until you can't resist petting her. Then, she sinks her head into your hand, rolls around in her bed purring and BAM! You've fallen in love.

Misty was named by volunteers from Mansfield University....hence her initials, MU. She's a great example of not judging a cat by its initial behavior in a new place, and not to overlook ones who may appear shy at first. Misty came to us from a home with several other kitties, and she's been good with those in her colony. We aren't sure about dogs, but she'd likely be fine with a calmer one if given time to properly acclimate. She's spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
