The sense of smell it is very important to Jesse. He had to check out everything with his nose. It was very difficult to get pictures of him with his head to the ground. After he canvased the whole yard with his nose, then he was ready to come to me and receive attention. Jesse is a two-year-old 45 pound tan and white terrier pit that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 3/28. Once he checked out everything and did his business out in the yard, then he gave me his time freely. He came to me wagging his tail. He sat for treats and took them gently. He was very well behaved and didn't jump on me. He was not interested in chasing balls. He is very sweet, calm, gentle, and affectionate. He came to me, gave me kisses and put his head on my lap. He walked OK on a leash. He sniffed other dogs and did not show any signs of aggression. He would do best with a family that had a yard, but would prefer to spend most of his time in the house with his new family. If you have a lap, he would either put his head on it or lay across you.
