My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zeus is as handsome as his name conjures up. If you are a GSD lover, he will likely grab hold of your heart instantly.

Zeus has some wonderful personality traits; he is smart, obedient, and eager to please. Since Zeus is smart and inquisitive, he needs a family that will not only keep him physically active, but also keep him mentally active. This can be through scent games, interactive toys, hide & seek, learning new commands through positive reinforcement training, and much more.

He loves being outside and going on walks. Since he so handsome, he will definitely be a head turner when out and about on daily strolls. Zeus does walk nicely on a leash and has meet some doggie friends along the way. He is looking for an active family and someone who wants to walk, hike, jog, run and get out each day for some cool activities. In addition, he'd really prefer someone who is home a good amout of the day, work or school from home kind of thing would be great!

He would be good as an only dog in the home and when meeting new pups is one that is slower introductions are is preference. In his foster home, he has been introduced to the smaller dogs on leash (since he is bigger pup), so hasn't been off a leash around them yet, but he sniffs around them and has been well behaved. Zeus has been good with the kids he has meet but hasn't had an opportunity to meet any cats.

Zeus would love a fenced yard; he does love being outside, so a home with a ~5ft fenced is on his list of requirements. He is still playful and enjoys toys, fetch, tug of war, and goofing off with his people. He is a happy boy that will settle in and give you a daily dose of love and kisses. Even with his size, he is gentle and sweet and is happy to be near you but not on top of you.

FYI - Zeus is already house broken and crate trained another 2 boxes to check off! He sleeps nicely in his crate next to his humans.

As part of Zeus’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Zeus, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
