My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Shiva was brought into care by his previous owner on March 24, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Looking for a divine addition to your home? Meet Shiva, the majestic feline deity of your dreams! This distinguished older gentleman is as mysterious and captivating as his namesake. With a sleek all-black coat and extra toes to spare (thanks to his polydactyl paws), Shiva stands out in any crowd. Despite his regal stature, Shiva is incredibly sweet and affectionate. He'll shower you with love and devotion, ready to bless your home with his presence. His heart may be enlarged, but his capacity for love knows no bounds. Plus, he's wise beyond his years, navigating his early chronic kidney disease with grace and resilience; we'd love to tell you more about it! Don't let his health concerns deter you - Shiva is a resilient kitty, determined to make the most of every moment. He's seeking a home where he can reign supreme, ruling over his kingdom with kindness and charm. Are you ready to welcome this divine feline into your heart and home? Come meet Shiva today and prepare for a lifetime of blessings and cuddles! Don't forget to bring a secure cat carrier for a safe transport home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
