My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Astrid was brought in by a community member on March 2, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Astrid, a sweet but shy girl that is looking for a new home filled with patience and understanding. Initially reserved, Astrid blossoms into a playful companion once she feels comfortable and she absolutely loves to play with her toys! Astrid also has a positive history with dogs in our care and may do best with another furry friend in the home to help show her the ropes! She thrives in a calm, quiet environment and would flourish in a household with older children only, aged 12 and above. Ideally suited for an adult-only setting, Astrid requires everyone in the household to meet her and speak with a trainer prior to adoption, ensuring the perfect match. Ready to open your heart and home to her beautiful soul? Then make sure to bring the whole family to come meet her, and don't forget to bring a leash and collar!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
