My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Sophie was brought in by a Good Samaritan on June 4, 2023.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Introducing Sophie, a beautiful girl who is sure to brighten your day! Sophie is a sweet but shy girl who is looking for a patient person or family who can help build her confidence. With a little love and understanding, she will blossom into a wonderful companion. This girl would do best in an adult only home due to her shy behavior. Sophie may exhibit some leash reactivity towards other dogs, but with positive training and consistency, she can overcome this behavior - that being said, we do think she would do best as the only dog in the home. A patient and dedicated approach to her training will help her feel more comfortable and relaxed when encountering other dogs on walks. In addition to her need for positive training, Sophie thrives in an environment that provides her with a consistent routine and plenty of affection. As she continues to grow and gain confidence, her true personality will shine through, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal and affectionate companion. If you're looking for a furry friend who will bring joy and warmth into your life, Sophie may be the perfect match for you. With a little time and effort, you can help her overcome her shyness and enjoy a lifetime of love and companionship. Come in and ask about adopting Sophie today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
