My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, it is I, Benny Beagle. I have been bounced around a couple of homes since my mom got really sick, and am now ready to find my permanent furever home.
My foster parents say I am pretty smart. I know to sit, down, and will get on the couch and lie down when told. I can be loud at moments, but my foster dad makes me come to him and sit and be a quiet boy. Or I will come into the house when called.
I like to chase stuffed toys or shake them all around. I will try to play with my foster brother but I can play rough and he quits. I am like a kid, I play, then time for a nap. I did get beat up in a previous home by a big dog so watch me around the bigger ones.
I have done well with my house training, and if I get up during the night it means I need to go out. I have been crated while everyone is gone and do fine in it, but I have also been good being left out.
I ride pretty well in the car. They tether me otherwise I would want to help drive, and I sit or lie down in the back seat. Walks, wellllll, I walk like a typical beagle, pull, go different ways, LOL. I am a stout strong boy, so you do need to hold on tight. I do love attention. Foster Mom and Dad say my one bad habit is I want to get in your face and kiss you, a lot. They make me sit and hold me in that position and then give me pets and love. I would LOVE to sleep in bed with you. I sleep in a crate here as the big bed is my foster brother’s spot. I would be fine with a buddy, but would also be good as an only dog as I love to get all the attention and will push in sometimes. A fenced yard please, as I like to go in and out a bunch.
No young kids as I can be jumpy and being a little bigger and stronger I might knock them down. And sometimes while playing with toys I can be mouthy.
So, if you want a loving companion ask about me, Benny beagle.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue

Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. We adopt beagles to families within Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
