Look at those standup floppy ears and Dixon's attractive, brindle coloring! He's indeed a handsome boy! Dixon is a four-month-old 23 pound Dutch Shepherd mix that arrived at the Mesquite Shelter on 4/22 as a stray. He's got many endearing qualities. Dixon is very affectionate and wants to be close to you. In the process of being close to you, he jumps on you. However, he wants to please and gets down with a sharp retort. He also sits for treats and takes them gently. He was not interested in playing with toys. When I sat down, he came to me to have his ears scratched. He did his business when I took him for a walk. When taking him on the leash, he alternated between walking really well and then jumping on me. When taking him out in the yard, he sniffed other dogs without a problem. On the way back to his kennel he growled at another dog. If you have a dog, we ask that you ask the shelter to perform a dog test. Dixon is eager, joyful, affectionate, mostly well mannered (especially for his age) and very sweet. He would love to be mostly an inside dog where he can be an integral part of your family.
