My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calling all hopeless romantics! What goes better with Corned Beef than Cabbage? Cabbage and his foster girlfriend, Corned Beef, have a love that we read about in fairy tales. It was love a first sight and they have been inseparable since they day they met. We here at Trash Cat would LOVE to see them find a home together so they can continue their love story for their whole lives.

Cabbage is the more timid one in the relationship. He really wants to be a loving, normal kitty but he is going to need a patient adopter who is willing to move at his pace and respect his space when he asks for it. Cabbage always has a worried look on his face like he did something wrong. It's one of the things his foster mom loves most about him. Even though Cabbage isn't ready to be held and snuggled he does love to be petted and is always one of the first kitties to greet his foster mom. He also follows his foster mom around the room.

Cabbage loves being up high on his cat tree or cat shelves. He also loves to lay on a comfy chair or snuggle up in blankets. He is extremely food motivated and loves his wet food. Cabbage is still learning how to play with cat toys but he LOVES all of the other kitties in the foster room.

If Cabbage isn't adopted with Corned Beef or another friend who is in foster, he will need to be adopted into a home with a very friendly cat who he would be able to meet fairly soon. Other kitties have been key in helping Cabbage learn to like and trust his foster mom. Cabbage still gets a little overstimulated and startles easily. He will need start out in a smaller, safe room until he is comfortable. His ideal home would also be on the quieter side. Cabbage would also do best in an adult only home. Children would probably be too scary for him.

Cabbage is estimated to be about 2.5 years old. If you are a hopeless romantic and want to adopt a sweet kitty couple, please apply for Corned Beef and Cabbage! Or if you have a really friendly kitty at home who is looking for a love interest or new best friend, apply to adopt Cabbage (solo) today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
