My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Every dog knows how to love." And our precious Fredo has so much love to give!

Fredo is in a foster home and here is what he would like you to know about him:

"Hey there! My name is Fredo, and I’m just about the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet and they tell me I am cute too! I’m a little over a year old and was born with a form of glaucoma that left me fully blind, and the vet determined that it was causing pressure on my eyes, so they had to be removed. You’d almost never know though; I love to do all the things any seeing dog does! I absolutely adore playing with other dogs, especially the females. I would like to meet your dogs first to make sure they like me.

I am potty trained and do well in a crate, but I’m mostly left out unless everyone leaves the house. Then I patiently wait in my crate until they get back home and let me out! My fosters say that I love stuffies and chew toys but since I can't see, I may try and steal socks and shoes if they are left out! Whoops! (So having me can help you keep your home tidy!) I sleep in the bed with my fosters and absolutely love to snuggle!

My nose and ears work extra well and I have a very good sense of spatial awareness. I can learn the layout of a house within a day or two. People are always amazed at how well I get around! I have a cool Halo (thank you to Muffin’s Halos for the donation!) to keep me from bumping into things when I’m in exploring new places.

My ideal forever home would be with someone who has a fenced in yard, as well as a female companion dog. Not having a fence isn't a deal breaker though, as long as someone in the house is willing to walk me daily and give me plenty of sniffing time! My fosters have not had cats, so not sure how I would do with them, and they haven't had children in their homes, although I loved the kids of the volunteers when I was at the shelter, and they loved me, too!

I know there are a lot of perfect puppies and dogs you could choose to adopt, but if you take a chance on me I promise I will spend my whole life showing you that you made the right choice! Let's do life together!"

More about this shelter

Cheatham County Animal Control is committed to finding good homes for the animals that come into the shelter system. We work with rescues and adopters. We are a no kill shelter but we rely on people coming in to adopt!

All of our cats/dogs receive vaccinations that are appropriate for the age and health when they are at animal control. We also spay and neuter all of our animals. The adopter is responsible for all vaccinations and medical care after adoption.
