Zara loves to play and is incredibly smart, quickly learning new tricks and commands. She already knows the sit, no, and down commands and is 99% house trained, making her a great addition to any home. She loves to lead the way on a leash but if she runs off while off leash, she`ll come back if you call her. Zara`s affectionate nature means she`s always ready for cuddles and will happily curl up on your lap, making her the ideal companion for both active playtimes and peaceful evenings. While she`s a bit jumpy but friendly around children and can play rough with other dogs, she thrives in a setting where she can be the center of attention. She wants to play with all the canines she meets during walks and at the dog park. Her favorite activities are car rides, fetch, running, toys, and walks. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
