My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 2.5 years old

Gender: Male

Breed: Dachshund mix

Personality: Goofy, energetic and playful with his dog pals. When Philo is not playing, he loves to relax and get pets all over. He is a very easy going pup and does not bark at all!

Education: Good with bathroom, crate and leash training

Favorite Activities: Going on walks and playing with other dogs. He now also loves getting pets all over and even belly rubs! He enjoys spending time with his humans and even sleeping in bed with them.

Looking for: A loving and patient family without kids or with older kids. He is very playful and energetic, and having another dog sibling in the house would be great! He would prefer his dog siblings to be either females or male dogs larger than him.

Special needs: He needs a little time to warm up but then he is good to go. Taking Prozac (~$5.00 for a 2 month's supply. Price will vary based on market value and where purchased). Medication must be monitored by an established vet.

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.
