My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet baby girl!

Hi there! I’m a 2-year-old female spayed Terrier mix, weighing in at 15 lbs, and I’m here to be the perfect companion. I was a TJ rescue before calling San Diego my amazing foster and hopefully soon a permanent home! I am mostly bathroom trained. As long as you keep me on a schedule, I’ll be your little angel. I’ve slept in a crate just fine before, but right now I love snuggling up and sleeping through the night in bed.

I have a little limp from a past injury (I’m still working on that), my specialist says I won’t need surgery for now, but I might need a check-up down the road. I take doggie aspirin for pain management and do pretty well with it. I’m still pretty active despite my injury, but I need to take it easy on rough activities and have my playtime monitored so I don’t overdo it.

I’m dog-friendly and cat-friendly, though I’ve got a bit of a prey drive, so confident cats are best. I’m also good with kids, though, given my leg, I’d probably be best around older ones who will respect my injury. I’m still a bit of a puppy at heart, which means I sometimes like to dig and chew. But I’m easily kept busy with lots of chew toys and bones when you’re not around. I absolutely love daily walks and sunbathing, and playing fetch is one of my favorite activities. Treats are a big motivator for me, too! Even though I may not be the best hiker because of my leg, I’m always up for some outdoor fun and daily playtime.

I’d do best in a home where I have a smaller or medium-sized dog friend or a family that can dedicate time to playing with me. I have a great temperament and am always eager to make my people happy. Just keep an eye on my leg, and I’ll be the best companion you could ask for! My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
