My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Holler for yolie!

Hi I am Yolie, I’m a 3-year-old, 16-pound Chihuahua mix with a lot of love to give. I may be missing my hind legs and hips (I had a rough start, rescued from the streets of Mexico after being hit by a car), but don’t feel sorry for me… I’m thriving now and living my best life! I’m crate and leash trained, spayed, and I get along great with other dogs and kids of all ages. I'm still learning commands like “bed” and how to eat on cue, but I’ve already got “come,” “stay,” and my name down! I love meeting new people, getting pets, cuddles, and snuggling into my favorite blanket.

I’m a happy, silly little girl who loves to follow my person around like a tiny, wiggly shadow. People call me a "Velcro dog". I just really like being near my humans! I get sad and cry when you leave the room, especially if I’m in my crate, but I’m working on being brave. My hobbies include squeaky toys, bouncing around on the grass, being carried like a baby, and chewing on soft things like pillows and blankets. I know I’m not supposed to, I’m working on it! I'm a bit of a messy water drinker, so be prepared for a little splash zone.

Because I’m incontinent, I wear diapers and need someone who can help keep me clean and comfy with regular changes. I'm okay in an apartment or a house with a yard—just as long as you're there with me. I’m not a fan of being left alone all day, or even just in another room. I really just want to be by your side, always. There isn’t a single mean bone in my body. I'm just a sweet, cuddly little soul who wants to be loved, and trust me, I’ll give you ten times that love right back. If you’re looking for a loyal, joyful, one-of-a-kind companion, I might just be your girl. My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
