Meet Fletcher — Your Lovable Shadow with a Big Heart!

Hi, I’m Fletcher, but my friends all call me Bubbas! I’m a 65-pound cuddlebug with a heart just as big as my body. I may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal shadow — always nearby, always leaning in for love (literally…I really like to lean!).

I’m fully potty trained and crate trained — though I do appreciate a treat or two to make crate time more appealing. I sleep in my foster’s bed at night and chill in my crate when they’re away. I’m a gentle, affectionate boy who’s a little skittish with loud noises, but I’ll find a safe spot (usually behind you or curled up in my bed) until things settle down.

I’ve got a playful side too! I love my toys, though fetch isn’t my strong suit — I’m working on it. I’m not a huge fan of walks (they tire me out fast!), but give me a fenced yard and I’ll happily zoom around with my goofy energy. I walk well on a leash with just a bit of pulling, which I'm continuing to improve.

I’ve been great with other dogs, cats, and even small critters in cages. Kids? I’ve met a few, and while I’m not quite sure about them yet (they can be a little loud and unpredictable), I might do well with older, calmer kids who understand I need gentle handling.

The perfect home for me would be one that’s laid-back and full of love. I’d thrive with a family who doesn’t mind a constant companion and has a big yard for me to run and play in. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, loyal boy to be your sidekick, I might just be the perfect match.

Ready to meet your new best friend? I can’t wait to find my forever family!

Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process.

Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
