Personality: Curious, Energetic, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Funny, Inquisitive, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Playful, Smart. Carson is a shy but sweet chinchilla who just needs a little patience to show his true personality. Once comfortable, you'll see a curious, gentle friend who enjoys quiet company and a cozy space to call home.
Favorite treats: Timothy hay treats
Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Chinchilla Food, Western Timothy & Orchard Mix.
Favorite toys and activities: Lounging in a dust bath or hideaway, running through his wood log, playing hide and seek, and running on his wheel.
Potty trained: Only uses the bathroom in the cage.
This animal’s daily routine: Runs around free range every day after dinner and before bed.
BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Carson needs a buddy in his new home.
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Cats, he acted like they weren’t there. In his prior foster home, he was around a dog in his enclosure and would call to it to run around with it within its enclosure.

Other notes: He’s a very active little guy who loves to stay busy. Whether he’s exploring, playing, or just zipping around, he’s always a joy to watch. His energy and personality make him so much fun to have around!
In his last foster home, he discovered how much fun it is to have a dog buddy! Even from inside his enclosure, he would call out with excitement, inviting the dog to run and play alongside him. It was adorable to watch him create his own little game—he’s a natural at making friends and bringing joy wherever he goes!
Carson came to MNPPR in hopes of finding a home with another male chinchilla & more time for the attention that he deserves.
Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart in Quarry: 1640 New Brighton Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55413 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
