My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Copen

Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Mix
Age: 2y+/-, Male
Weight: 45 pds
Medical: UTD on all vaccines, Neutered, microchipped
Cat Friendly: No
Dog Friendly: Yes; but dog selective
Kid Friendly: Unknown, Recommending Ages 12+
Crate Trained: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Location: Cape Cod, MA

Copen takes time to warm up to new people. He is environmentally skittish of loud sounds and fast movements, submissive with other dogs and selective of whom he interacts with — has potential to live with a housemate so long as proper introductions and supervision occur.

Copen is a pup that has a lot of learning to do still he came from a backyard breeder only to be dumped in a high kill shelter. He needs a family that will give him love and understand, along with training that that would help build his confidence to help him adjust to his new life!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Either email or fax our application back to us in a fully completed state. We will reach out and set up a phone interview with you.

2.

Interview

- Phone interview - Reference check (Vet, 2 references) - Home Check

3.

Approve Application

- Meet and Greet - Adoption contract signed, adoption donation paid, new pet goes home with you!

Additional adoption info

We have a written application followed by a phone interview. If the applicant is approved past this point then we check 2 personal references as well as their vet reference. If they rent we speak with their landlord as well. If all is well at this point then we do a home check. The final step is a meet and greet where the adopter and the household, including dogs travel to meet the new adoptive dog. If all goes well they can adopt. There is an adoption contract and the adoption fee ranges between $200-400 depending on the fees that we put into the particular dog.

Go meet their pets

We support local "ma & pa" business before the big box chains since many of us come from some communities. We also attended fairs and "meet & greet" events.
