My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Burt – The Brindle Beauty with the Mesmerizing Eyes

Burt is a truly special boy — a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with a dazzling brindle coat and eyes that seem almost otherworldly. His multicolored gaze shifts between shades of blue and pale silver, and in the sunlight, you can even see faint white patches. The vet described them as albino eyes — a rare and beautiful trait that doesn’t affect his vision but makes him unforgettable.

Burt’s personality is just as stunning as his looks. He’s:

Housebroken and crate trained

Gentle, mellow, and affectionate

Excellent with other dogs, kids, and even cats

Playful and smart, loving fetch, walks, and quiet time with his people

Good on and off leash, walking calmly on a gentle leader

Polite and curious, the kind who’ll stand on his back legs just to watch what you’re doing, never to steal — he just wants to be part of your world

At his recent adoption event, Burt impressed everyone with his calm, sweet nature and his eagerness to please. He listens to commands beautifully and is the kind of companion who adapts easily to any setting.

Burt is neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations.
(Breed identification is based on visual observation and not guaranteed.)

Now for the part that shows just how remarkable Burt truly is:
Before coming into rescue, Burt’s life took a heartbreaking turn. His elderly owner passed away unexpectedly, and no one knew for how long Burt had been chained outside, waiting faithfully beside the home he once shared. When he was finally found, he was scared, confused, and alone — yet still gentle and trusting.

Since entering rescue, Burt has shown incredible resilience and heart. All he wants now is a safe, loving home where he’ll never be left behind again.

Additional adoption info

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise. Due to recent website issues please submit application at www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.net if the .com link provided does not work
