- Well-Mannered & Smart – Housebroken, crate-trained, and already knows commands like Sit, Wait, Drop it, and more. He’s eager to learn and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement.
- Friendly & Social – AJ enjoys the company of people and other dogs (especially females or mellow pups). With slow, proper introductions, he fits right in.
- Resilient & Adaptable – Despite growing up in a shelter system, he’s adjusted like a champ. No chewing, no chaos—just a well-behaved boy with a stable personality.
- Playful & Active – Long walks, fetch in the yard, or working on new tricks with snacks—AJ is game for it all. He loves a variety of treats, even fruits and veggies!
His Ideal Home:
Active family who enjoys daily walks and playtime

To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.
We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.

We are 100% volunteer/foster based, so we do ask that you complete an adoption application in order for us to schedule a phone interview.
Interview
After reviewing your application, we'll contact you to determine if dog is a good fit for your lifestyle and home.
Approve Application
We check vet and personal references to ensure previous dogs were well cared for, so please be thorough in providing this info.
Home Check
This enables the dog to get to know you and your home and for us to suggest anything they may need to be successful in your home.
Sign Adoption Contract
You would also pay the fee at this time, however, we offer a 2 week trial period before cashing your check. We will always take dogs back.
