My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NEW BIO!
My name is Ryman and I'm thrilled that you are reading my story! I'm not sure what happened to my life but I ended up in rescue. I know I was in great danger at the shelter and was one of the lucky ones to be chosen by RROC. You want to know a little about me?
I do NOT like cats. That's nonnegotiable. No cats for me. And although I love girl dogs, I could do without most boy dogs. People? I'm so happy when people interact with me. I was not sure people liked me when I first arrived but my foster mom spent hours sitting next to me and giving me hugs, belly rubs, ear scratches, and snout kisses. How could a boy not like that treatment? But I am polite and don't push to get that attention, unlike some other dogs I could mention. I just lean into any affection that comes my way. The slightest, briefest pet, or even a smile directed my way, makes me grin for hours. I'm pretty much the easiest dog you could imagine: I don't ask for much but I get so appreciative of anything I get! Food and treats get me so excited, leaving me wiggling and wagging. I don't care if it's a dog biscuit, a carrot, or a strawberry, I just can't believe you're giving it to me! Give me a soft dog bed and I will curl into it with delight. I will hang out there until you tell me you want me to do something else. I love to run around in a yard big or small. I have energy to spare but it's very controlled: I'm the least hyper dog you'll ever meet. I'm very obedient when you call me back in. And I love to rub against the fence, making everyone laugh as I walk around while leaning into the fence! One absolutely adorable thing about me is that I have the silliest grin when I am very happy - I scrunch up my entire snout, close my eyes, and just wag nonstop. No mistaking my joy! Hard to get a photo of this but everyone giggles when they see me doing this! I'm definitely not conceited in any way, but people do mention how my particular set of genes have left me looking like a gorgeous land seal. I have never seen a seal and don't have a mirror so can't confirm nor deny these claims. Oh, you want my stats? My paperwork says I'm around eight years old but I could be anywhere from five to eight. For a retriever mix, I'm on the smaller side of average at around 50 pounds. Thank you so much for reading all about me! If you know anyone who would like a handsome, easy-going companion, please consider mentioning me. I'm loving life in my foster home but a home of my own is my ultimate dream. Have a beautiful day!
