My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shamrock is 13 year old Patterdale Terrier mix. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Read Shamrock's full profile and submit an adoption application on our website:
https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/shamrock

Shamrock's momma became ill and due to her illness he went to someone who loves him fiercely. That person currently cares for Shamrock and his momma. At this point his momma's illness requires many hours outside of the home and his caretaker's full attention. Shamrock's momma and caretaker want the best for him, so they reached out to Fawn's to help find him a home.

Shamrock is a smart and observant dog, this is typical for the Patterdale terrier as they are a hunting breed. During a recent photography session, he showed his strength with how he paid attention to the non-verbal cues he was given. He was incredibly attuned to them and responded more quickly when he received commands with a non-verbal cue.

Shamrock's ideal home is with an active person or family. No cats or other small animals, they are too fun to chase. We also think he'd do best in an adult-only home. He requires a yard to help meet his exercise needs.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Find one or more available dogs from our Adoptable Dogs list and submit an application: https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

2.

Approve Application

We review applications on a rolling basis. We do a vet, reference, and background check. Then a foster interview.

3.

Meet the Pet

If you are the right fit, you will meet the dog during a home visit. If you have pets, we help facilitate an appropriate meet and greet.

4.

Sign Adoption Contract

Ideally at the end of the home visit you sign the adoption contract, provide your adoption donation, and your 7 day adoption trial starts.

Additional adoption info

We do our best to select the family and home that we feel is ideal based on the unique needs of each dog. Adopters must be 21 years or older.

As we are a foster-based organization our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL.

Our adoption donations range between $175 to $450 depending on the age and medical expenses paid out for each dog while in rescue. All donations go back to our foster dogs and their care.

Fawn's does a veterinarian and reference check. Your application will be denied if the animals you own are not properly vaccinated, neutered and spayed, and up to date on their heartworm and other preventative medications.

More about this rescue

Fawn's Small Dog Rescue is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization based in Florida. We are dedicated to saving lives of forgotten dogs in shelters and rescue other stray, abused, or forgotten dogs in Florida.

Our rescue dogs are placed with caring foster families until we find them a qualified permanent loving home. All our dogs receive complete veterinary care, socialization, compassion, nourishment and rehabilitation while in Fawn's Foster Program.

We believe every dogs broken spirit can be mended. We hope to help educate the public on spay/neutering, controlling pet overpopulation and proper animal care.
