My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trooper is a red and white Chihuahua mix, he's 12 lbs and 12 years old. He's neutered and up to date on his vaccines and monthly preventatives. Trooper is receiving treatment for heartworms, his adopters receive his meds to continue his treatment.

Trooper is fostered in Jacksonville, FL. Read his full profile and submit an adoption application: https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/trooper

Trooper is as resilient as his name suggests! This sweet senior, likely dumped, found himself in a strange neighborhood. After completing a stray hold he was transferred to Fawn's.

Medically Trooper is doing well for a senior dog, he has a hernia and mild vision limitation. The vet said that the hernia isn't causing pain or affecting his quality of life. His vision limitation is a bit odd, he sees better in dim light. This means he can get startled more easily when it's bright. His foster is going to have him try some doggles, dog goggle sunglasses, to see if that helps him.

Trooper loves burrowing in blankets, cozying up with people, and most of all pets and scratches. He hasn't been tested with small children or cats, he's done well with his foster family's teen. He'd do best in a home with adults or dog-savvy teens as he can get startled by unexpected noises and movement. Cuddling and snuggling enthusiasts please apply!

Trooper is doing well with house and potty training. He's most successful when he gets to go out on a fairly regular schedule. He's happy to do his business on a leash or in a yard.

Trooper has done well with his big dog foster siblings, you can see a picture of all of them in his profile. He isn't interested in playing with them and will occasionally resource guard food from them. He'd be fine with doggie siblings, he'd adore the opportunity to be an only child.

Trooper's ideal home has adopters who are home frequently for snuggles and to help continue his house and potty training success. He can live with adults and would do fine with respectful teens. Trooper hasn't met any cats. He's rated for dogs big and small, he'd definitely enjoy being an only child. He's yard optional since he's happy to go potty on a leash.

Additional adoption info

We do our best to select the family and home that we feel is ideal based on the unique needs of each dog. Adopters must be 21 years or older.

As we are a foster-based organization our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL.

Our adoption donations range between $175 to $450 depending on the age and medical expenses paid out for each dog while in rescue. All donations go back to our foster dogs and their care.

Fawn's does a veterinarian and reference check. Your application will be denied if the animals you own are not properly vaccinated, neutered and spayed, and up to date on their heartworm and other preventative medications.

More about this rescue

Fawn's Small Dog Rescue is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization based in Florida. We are dedicated to saving lives of forgotten dogs in shelters and rescue other stray, abused, or forgotten dogs in Florida.

Our rescue dogs are placed with caring foster families until we find them a qualified permanent loving home. All our dogs receive complete veterinary care, socialization, compassion, nourishment and rehabilitation while in Fawn's Foster Program.

We believe every dogs broken spirit can be mended. We hope to help educate the public on spay/neutering, controlling pet overpopulation and proper animal care.
