My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

RAYBANS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!

Name:    Raybans        Best Guess for Breed:    Shepherd/Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of August 2025       SEX:    Male

Approximate Weight:  56 lbs as of 8/3/25

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! Raybans has also lived with cats. He will chase cats if they run, but can be redirected with food. We haven't seen him with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!

Currently Living at:    DC area foster home.

Check out this video of Raybans: https://youtube.com/shorts/9v2LtOt0xYE.

Special Adoption Considerations: Because Raybans is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.

Raybans is Looking For:    His forever home! This handsome boy can't wait to take in rays of sunshine with his future family. He is ready to enjoy long walks in the park and cozy nights on the couch. But most of all, Raybans is looking for a family to call his own! He would love to play with other pups and work with you on his training to be the very best doggie citizen.

Raybans wants to feel safe and loved for all his days. What do you say? Will you give him the life he dreams about in exchange for adoring gazes and happy tail wags and loyal companionship?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Raybans is a very sweet, shy boy. He knows to do his business outside, and is very quiet, hasn’t barked at all! He’s great with our resident pup and lets her snuggle right up to him. He does well taking cues from her on when to go outside and does really well on walks with her. He definitely needs some time to gain his confidence and come out of his shell around new humans, particularly men. He likes to find a safe spot to watch his surroundings when he gets nervous. He did great with the fireworks on New Years - he really didn’t seem to notice them or be bothered. Overall a really sweet, gentle boy who will thrive in a loving home where he can build up his confidence!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
