My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🌟 Meet Bucky: Your Future Best Buddy with a Mysterious Past 🌟

My adoption fee has been sponsored by the Parker Foundation, so I am now FREE to my forever home!

Hi there. I’m Bucky — possibly the world’s most handsome mystery man. I showed up at the county stray facility one day, no tags, no backstory, just vibes. No one came looking for me (I know, tragic), so now I’m here at the shelter trying to turn my luck around and find my forever people.

I may not have a scrapbook of my past, but I’ve got big dreams for my future: a cozy bed, a full food bowl, and someone who laughs when I do something goofy (which is... often).

Here’s what I bring to the table (besides charm):
✅ Excellent leash manners — I strut like I know what I’m doing.
✅ House trained — I’m classy like that.
✅ Super friendly — I’ve never met a stranger, just future friends.
✅ Chatty guy — I’ve got thoughts and I’m not afraid to share them.
✅ Assumed Kid-friendly (over 5) — I’m gentle, not a bull in a china shop.
✅ I know how to sit! Yup, I’ve got at least one move in my trick book.
✅ One free week of training through GoodPup — I’ll be even smarter!
✅ Might be open to Dog Friends- Let me meet them and we can see if we get along!

Still figuring out:
❌ Cat opinions — I think those little things might be a little too fun to chase!

So… got room in your heart (and on your couch) for a charming, soulful fella with a slightly mysterious past and a whole lot of love to give? Fill out an adoption application today — I’ll be here practicing my best “adopt me” face. 🐾

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter serving Barron County and surrounding areas.

Established in 1978 by a small but dedicated group of core volunteers, the HSBC started out with these volunteers taking animals into their own homes and advertising the need for forever homes for these animals. Over the years, since this humble beginning the HSBC has grown into the organization that it is today. From the homes of volunteers, relying on fundraising and the generous donations of our community, we have grown into and remain in our home on Guy Avenue in Barron.

HSBC is operated by a small staff and relies heavily on volunteers, as well as funds from donations, adoptions, memberships and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals needing our assistance.

We sincerely thank you for making this possible.
