My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

At first glance, Miriam might seem like a bit of a wallflower—but give her a little time, and you’ll be rewarded with the sweetest transformation: from cautious observer to full-on wiggly-butt lovebug. ✨

Miriam is about 5 years old and is believed to be the daughter of Martha (yes, that Martha—the Queen of Resting Grump Face). She inherited all the best qualities: soulful eyes, quiet resilience, and just enough healthy skepticism to keep life interesting.

This gentle girl recently underwent an emergency spay and has been nothing but patient and trusting through it all. She’s not too sure about any dogs besides Martha, she loves a good cuddle once she feels safe, and she delivers zoomies with the grace of someone who’s just discovered joy.

Miriam is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and quietly. She won’t be the loudest or the boldest in the room, but once you’re “her person,” you’ll know it—because she’ll follow you with her eyes, nuzzle into your side, and remind you every day that the quietest love can be the most powerful.

She’s looking for someone who understands that introverts need love too. A soft place to land. A fresh start. A couch to share and a heart to trust.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopter(s) will meet the dog. At this time there will also be a meet and greet between any other pets included in the household.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of an initial application for the animal of interest, followed by reference checks (both personal and with a veterinarian), a home visit, and finally if approved an adoption contract. All animals are required to be inside companion pets and the owner must maintain veterinary care throughout the life of the animal.

Adoption fees are $150 for dogs, unless it is fostered through us for another rescue and $75 for cats.

All animals are up to date with vaccinations and spayed/neutered before adoption.

Go meet their pets

Arrangements can be made to visit with any of our pets, but because we are foster based and do not have one facility, appointments must be made to do so. To visit with a pet, please contact us at 814-421-7078 by phone or text.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster based rescue, not a shelter, comprised of multiple individuals that open their homes to stray, sick, and forgotten animals in need. We began the rescue in the Ligonier Area to focus on issues of stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. We often took in animals for the local police departments instead of having them sent to animal control. We have since expanded and try to cooperate with the public, other rescues, and other animal groups to assist any animal in need. Our primary focus area for intake though is still the Ligonier Valley. Adoptions can be made to any area as long as the adoption process is completed.
