Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chowder came into rescue with a couple of other dogs who had come from bad situations and rough starts in life. We think Chowder is a chow mix but we arent entirely sure since we never saw his parents. He is estimated to have been born February 5th of 2025. Chowder is a typical puppy who loves playing, LOVES attention, cuddles and being with his family. He's an energetic little pistol who likes to be the boss. He doesn't like other pups in his food and he inhales it so a slow feeder might be the way to go when feeding him. He will dive his whole body into the bowl. He will need training as most puppies do so please expect to work with him on housebreaking and his manners so that he can grow up to be the best dog that he can be. Continued socialization is always recommended to ensure a well balanced dog who can transition easily into any situation. Chowder does well with dogs and kids and at this age, would be easily socialized to cats and other pets/animals. Puppies are blank slates, for the most part, so they can be molded to fit your lifestyle and home environment. Since Chowder is still a pup and we expect him to be a medium sized dog, he will need exercise whether that's in a fenced yard or being leash walked (he currently knows nothing about a leash so he will need to learn that as well). Chewing will also be a phase that all pups and their families must endure so encourage appropriate toys for chewing so that he won't decide that shoes and furniture look fun. Chowder is an adorable, chunky little ball of fur who will make a wonderful companion!
Chowder saw the vet on 4/16/25 and was found to have no issues noted. He has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention but is still too young for a heartworm test.. He tested negative for intestinal parasites on his fecal. Chowder weighed 12.7 pounds as of 4/16/25.
If interested in giving Chowder his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Chowder's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Chowder based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you
