Meet Cynthia, a quiet and sensitive Umbrella Cockatoo with a gentle spirit and thoughtful eyes.
Cynthia is estimated to be around 40 years old and is a wild caught cockatoo who has experienced multiple homes over the course of her life. Because of her past, she is still very timid and needs an adopter who understands that trust will take time and cannot be rushed.
She is not yet comfortable stepping up onto bare hands or arms, but she is making progress and is currently doing better stepping up onto a toweled arm. She prefers to move at her own pace and benefits from calm, predictable interactions. Cynthia enjoys being near her people, quietly observing her surroundings rather than being the center of attention.
Like many cockatoos, Cynthia does have a loud voice and will occasionally scream, so she is not a good fit for homes with shared walls. That said, her overall demeanor is gentle and reserved, and she would thrive in a peaceful household with minimal chaos and a patient caregiver.
Cynthia has a clear passion when it comes to enrichment and is absolutely obsessed with balsa and cork toys. Providing plenty of appropriate chewing and shredding outlets will be an important part of helping her feel secure and engaged in her environment.
Cynthia would do best with someone who can offer consistency, patience, and a calm presence, allowing her the time and space she needs to continue building confidence. For the right home, she has the potential to form a quiet, meaningful bond and truly begin her next chapter feeling safe and understood.
Adoption fee: $600
