Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hank
2 years old · Labrador/Pit Bull Mix · Neutered Male · 58 lbs
Meet Hank, a bright and affectionate 2-year-old who’s been thriving in foster care and is more than ready to find his new home. He is the perfect medium-sized companion with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging.
This sweet boy has spent the past few months learning all the good stuff from mastering new commands to refining his leash manners. He is both trainable and eager to please with just the right mix of playful energy and calm cuddle time.
Hank’s Best Qualities
✔️ Dog-friendly and playful, gets along great with the other pups in his foster home
✔️ Fully crate-trained and sleeps soundly through the night
✔️ Smart, attentive, and food-motivated, making training easy and fun
✔️ Affectionate and loyal once he warms up
✔️ Balanced energy, perfect for adventures and cozy movie nights
Foster Update
Hank has settled in beautifully and continues to grow in confidence every day. While initially reserved, he now greets familiar faces with a wagging tail and bright enthusiasm. He thrives in a calm and structured environment where he feels safe and supported.
Hank is curious, playful, and loves interactive toys. He enjoys bursts of play, has a mischievous but sweet streak, and is always ready to explore. He is crate-trained, house-trained, and learning basic commands including sit, stay, and come. Leash manners are improving every day. Hank is in excellent health, eats well, maintains a healthy weight, and enjoys monthly grooming to keep his coat shiny.
Socially, Hank gets along well with the other dog in his foster home and, while initially cautious with new people, warms up quickly with gentle introductions. With continued love and support, he will continue to grow into a confident and outgoing companion.
🌟 Foster Note: Hank’s foster completed an Embark DNA test and he came back 100% American Pit Bull Terrier

More about this shelter
In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.
From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.
We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
