Hi, I’m Downy! Don’t let my age fool you. I have the energy and enthusiasm of a playful puppy. I love zooming around, playing fetch, and chasing after rope toys with pure joy. I’m happiest when I can run in the yard with a friend, chase a ball, or just be part of the action. I warm up to new people quickly and am always ready to make a new friend.
My life hasn’t always been as soft and cozy as a fresh load of laundry. I came to the shelter needing some extra care and TLC, but I bounced back quickly and now I’m ready to share my energy and affection with the right family. In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.
From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.
We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
