Coral, a sweet dog who arrived as a stray on May 15, 2025, has made incredible progress since her initial intake. While she initially struggled with fear and stress in the shelter environment—displaying whale eyes, a tucked tail, and growling when approached—she has since shown remarkable improvement.
Today, Coral is happy to see staff and volunteers, and she has become much easier to get out of her kennel. Once in the play yard, her true personality shines. She loves playing fetch, enjoys getting belly rubs, and is happy to lay in a person`s lap.
Coral also enjoys interacting with other dogs when off-leash in playgroups. She loves to roll in the grass and dirt, offering corrections and greetings to other dogs as needed. Her interactions show that she can be social, but she still needs some guidance. During a recent pack walk, she did growl and lunge at another dog when their leashes got close, indicating that she does better with dogs when given more space and freedom.
Recent outings have highlighted her potential. Coral did a wonderful job at a local office, only barking once at a dog upon arrival. She was great with people and rode well in the car, where she enjoyed many treats. A volunteer also noted her playful and excited demeanor, though she can be a bit pushy to get out of her kennel and pulls slightly on the leash.
While Coral has made great strides, the shelter is not a sustainable environment for her to continue building trust. She needs a calm, structured home where she can decompress and fully blossom. With a stable and supportive setting, Coral will have the opportunity to continue her journey of healing and confidence-building.
