Dessie is a 4-year-old Plott Hound mix weighing around 50 lbs. This beautiful girl is as sweet as they come — gentle, calm, and full of quiet affection.

Dessie does well with other dogs and enjoys their company, especially if they match her laid-back vibe. While we’re still learning about her compatibility with cats and kids, her soft demeanor suggests she may do well in a patient, understanding home that gives her time to adjust.

We require all adopters to complete an application and pay an adoption fee. Adoption fees vary, but are usually $160 to $185. We may do a vet reference check and/or home visit.

It Takes A Village Rescue, Inc. is a non-kill 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to doing what it takes to find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, and to keep these animals safe and free from further suffering. Our mission is "To work as one in helping homeless animals irrespective of breed, location or circumstance." By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and partner rescues or shelters, we are able to rescue countless animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care as we work to find them well-matched forever homes. Although we do not discriminate based on breed, size or color, we have a particular interest in bully breeds, special medical needs, senior dogs, black dogs and other hard-to-place animals.
