Meet Foxie – From Survivor to Playful Running Buddy

Foxie is a beautiful brindle with stunning coloring reminiscent of a Dutch Shepherd. When she first arrived, her body clearly showed signs that she very recently had puppies. We don’t know what happened to them—whether they were taken or lost—but it’s clear she’s been through something heartbreaking.

Since then, she has made incredible progress and is now at a healthy weight. She’s playful, exuberant, and a wonderful running partner who loves to check in with her person frequently. Foxie has also done great with the other dogs she’s met, showing she’s social and adaptable.

Foxie is ready for an active home that will keep up with her energy and shower her with love. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to join you on runs and adventures, Foxie might just be the perfect fit.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

3.
Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

All that is needed for the adoption application is a

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
