Meet Sweet Pea – A Smart, Gentle Girl Ready for Her Second Chance

Sweet Pea is a lovely hound / cattle dog mix, about 45 lbs, with a beautiful white-and-tan coat and a heart that truly lives up to her name. She was abandoned by her previous owner, but despite that loss, Sweet Pea remains affectionate, trusting, and eager to connect with people.

She’s a smart girl who’s eager to please, already knows “sit,” and takes treats very gently. Sweet Pea enjoys human attention and thrives on positive interaction, making her a joy to work with and spend time around.

Sweet Pea is house-trained and appears to be dog-friendly, though we’re still learning more about her preferences with other pups. She settles nicely and would do well in a home that offers consistency, kindness, and companionship.

This sweet, deserving girl is ready to leave her past behind and start fresh with a family who will appreciate her gentle nature and intelligence.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

2.
Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

3.
Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

All that is needed for the adoption application is a

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
